I’ve noticed this very interesting phenomenon. Early in the morning when I am just coming out of the dream state into consciousness my dogs King and Doc are aware of this. They wake when I wake. What’s interesting is that it happens as I am coming out of sleep, just barely coming into consciousness…not even really awake. You know, that place where you begin to realize you have been dreaming but no longer are? I’m not moving my body at all. I make a point of remaining very still so as not to wake the dogs. And yet, they know I am no longer dreaming. How do they know that?
And just so you know, the reason I try not to wake them is that as soon as I do, King will whine to go outside which means I have to leave the warm cozy comfort of my bed and trudge through the cold house to let him outside. When it is sub-zero, as it has been the last couple of days, that also means I will probably be making a mad dash outside in just my jammies and crocs to rescue a seized dog who can no longer walk because his little paws are too cold. See why I don’t want to wake anyone? Subzero that early in the morning is just plain cruel.
Back to the question. How do they know? So I asked King…that’s the cool thing about being an animal communicator, we can ask about all these things others spend their whole lives wondering about. So King, I ask, how is it you know when I am first waking before I even move?
King: “Your energy comes back”.
King: “Your energy comes back…most of your energy leaves when you are sleeping and when you wake, I can feel the rest of you come back into your body…your energy changes.”
Wendy: “COOL. So when I am dreaming, I really am leaving my body and going to another dimension?”
King: “Well I don’t know where you go but you aren’t here. It’s really easy to feel the difference.”
Maybe I need to ask Doc too. Let’s see what the Maltipoo has to say.
Wendy: “Doc, early in the morning when I start to wake, you always seem to know. How do you know when I am not moving my body that I am waking?”
Doc: “Your breathing changes…and yes, like King said your energy changes too. But I always feel your breathing change.”
Wendy: “How does it change?”
Doc: “It gets deeper and longer.”
Wendy: “Do you know where I go when I dream?”
Doc: “Sure, you go off to do your souls’ work. Your soul is helping the part of you that is in this physical body.”
Wendy: “Do I help others?”
Doc: “Sometimes. It depends on how well you are doing. Lately you have been helping yourself more. But I remember other times when you were helping others.”
Wendy: “You don’t seem to want to get up right away like King…at least not usually.”
Doc: “No, I like being under the covers with you, especially when it is cold out like this and I know we aren’t going for a walk right away. I love going for the walks…but you know that.”
Wendy: “Yes, and I’m sorry they are shorter right now…it is just too cold. Thanks for sharing your insights…you are both very wise.”
So there you have it. My energy and breathing changes, they notice it and no matter how still I lay it will not keep them from knowing I am back. Another of life’s puzzling questions answered by the animals.
